Manufacturing Company – Senior Director, IT & Security – GTA

A service-driven paper and packaging products company, our client has grown to become one of Canada’s largest paper manufacturers and a leading producer of packaging products. The organization employs approximately 2000 people across North America.
Scope of Position
Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, the Senior Director, IT & Security is a key member of the IT Leadership Team responsible for leading and evolving enterprise IT infrastructure and security strategy, architecture, operations, and governance. This role will provide strategic leadership and direction, and ensure the successful, end-to-end delivery of services, network, security, and projects within the IT transformation program and day-to-day operations.
As the Corporate IT leader, this role will develop and implement IT standards and governance and oversee capital and resource planning and budget tracking. The Senior Director will engage with senior business leaders, and both internal and external technology delivery partners to find opportunities for innovation and leverage technology to revolutionize the core capabilities to maximize business outcomes.
The successful candidate will lead strategic initiatives, including enterprise cloud strategy, IT/OT infrastructure modernization, network transformation, end-user computing strategy, disaster recovery and business continuity management, and policies and standards working to support secure, scalable business operations within the broader guidelines set out by the CIO and the executive team.

Functional Tasks
• Implement and execute enterprise-wide IT infrastructure and security strategy and vision as part of the IT leadership team, with specific accountability for the Corporate IT infrastructure and operations. Ensure delivery and deployment of all projects and effectively communicate status and roadblocks in an accurate and timely manner. Troubleshoot issues, resolve escalations, and engage appropriate parties as necessary during those times. Lead resolution, diagnosis, and communication. Ensure robust processes are in place for quality assurance.
• Own the Corporate IT infrastructure, security, and technology stack. Develop and manage IT budget, policies, processes, and procedures to ensure effective and efficient IT operations. Perform audits and internal control reviews to ensure the stability, security, and integrity of IT systems and operations.
• Build and lead a high-performing Corporate IT Infrastructure and Security team. Hire, develop, and motivate team members by fostering an inclusive work environment, a culture of open communication and knowledge
sharing. Set priorities and strategic direction, measure performance, and lead and contribute to the technical
work, and ensure ongoing professional development and performance evaluation.
• Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize disruption during emergencies. Assess IT and cybersecurity risks and design, implement and test business continuity and disaster recovery procedures to mitigate those risks. Implement policies and procedures to ensure the protection of company IT assets and the integrity, security, and privacy of corporate and personal information. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements as they relate to technology.
• Oversee IT assets from requisition to retirement, ensure licensing compliance, eliminate waste, and ensure timely refresh of aged IT assets to mitigate business and security risks.
• Evaluate and manage selection of specific technology products, services, and vendors, as well as the negotiation of related procurement and implementation contracts. Effectively manage vendor and partner relationships.
• Travel within US and Canada will be required.

Preferred Experience / Education
• University Degree in Information Technology, or related major with a master’s degree preferred.
• Certification in Project Management and Information Security are considered as assets.
• 15+ years’ experience, including leadership roles in IT strategy development and execution, planning and implementation of end-to-end large scale IT initiatives, preferably in a complex Manufacturing capacity.
• Extensive experience with the design, implementation, and management of large on-premises and cloud IT infrastructure including network, storage, servers, and security.
• Advanced experience with ERP and MES systems implementations and management.
• Knowledge of applicable legislated frameworks, emerging IT trends, enterprise budgeting, IT security and compliance, and enterprise data management.
• Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to communicate vision and strategy, provide robust challenge and inspire and motivate staff.
• Excellent strategic planning and execution abilities.
• Effective negotiation and problem resolution skills, with the ability to build relationships across varied stakeholder groups including Executive levels.
• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively and with a high sense of urgency.
• Ability to oversee multiple projects and excel in a complex and evolving portfolio. Demonstrates appropriate flexibility in all situations and comfortable with ambiguity, while pivoting from macro to micro issues, from shaping the strategy agenda through to the day-to-day.
