Our client is headquartered in Canada with offices, staff and customers in the Americas and EMEA. The company is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).

Scope of Position

As part of a planned transition our client is seeking a Vice President of IT.  The role will be a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of corporate IT operations in a digital-first environment. From shaping the technological landscape to driving innovation, the role will be crucial in ensuring a secure and efficient IT environment that supports the firm’s teams worldwide. The individual will lead IT infrastructure, system administration, and help desk support teams, fostering a collaborative work environment that empowers them to deliver exceptional services remotely as well as in office.

Functional Tasks

IT Strategy

  • Develop and execute a digital-first IT strategy aligned with company goals, driving innovation and digital transformation.
  • Provide leadership and foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the IT department.
  • Make critical decisions on technology selection, deployment, and maintenance to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, in alignment with strategic and operational business priorities.

Business Application & Solution Support

  • Ensure seamless business solution support for the company, aligning technology with customer needs for streamlined operations.
  • Oversee the performance of critical business applications across Sales, HR, Finance, Marketing, and other areas.
  • Drive successful implementation of system enhancements and updates to maintain peak performance, reliability, and internal user satisfaction pilots for validation.

Management of Infrastructure and Network Operations

  • Manage corporate IT operations, overseeing infrastructure, network security, system administration, and remote help desk support.
  • Ensure IT systems are consistently available, secure, and scalable, optimizing performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Develop and maintain resilience and recovery strategies to ensure business continuity during adverse events or disasters, mitigating risks and minimizing disruptions.

Cybersecurity and Risk Management

  • Work closely with the Security team to implement robust cybersecurity measures safeguarding the company’s data, intellectual property, and confidential information in a digital-first work environment.

Delivery of Strategic Projects and Critical Investments

  • Collaborate with business leaders to align strategic projects with business requirements, while addressing potential obstacles.
  • Manage software and service procurement to optimize IT investments and ensure sustainable delivery models.
  • Direct external providers to meet project milestones within agreed budgets, scope, and quality standards.
  • Establish and manage IT budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities while upholding service quality and compliance standards

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team to deliver IT services for a growing digital-first organization.
  • Attract, retain, and develop talent crucial for providing valuable technology solutions.
  • Provide comprehensive training and mentorship to enhance technical proficiency and foster a customer-centric partnership mindset.

Preferred Experience / Education

The following indicates specific industry, academic and functional experience/qualifications that are important to the successful achievement of the identified responsibilities and performance deliverables:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • IT leadership experience in software or technology-driven environments.
  • Proven expertise in managing IT infrastructure, system administration, and help desk support.
  • Track record of successfully developing and executing digital transformation strategies.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of inspiring and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with problem-solving abilities, leveraging technological advancements.
  • Strong business acumen with experience in budgeting and resource management for IT operations.
  • Strong experience in business process re-engineering.
  • Demonstrated leadership in IT delivery and execution within fast-paced environments.
  • Preferably bilingual in English and French (written and spoken).
