Client provides service orchestration solutions for Ethernet transport in today’s IP networks and new generation software-defined networks. They bring the power of web 2.0, automation and big data analytics to visualize Ethernet transport services, and orchestrate service delivery across multiple operator networks. With Client’s solutions, service providers and cloud exchange providers can accelerate time to revenue, visualize services end-to-end, and assure inter-carrier performance – across the entire Ethernet life cycle.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the CEO at their centrally located Ottawa office, the Director of Marketing is responsible for the marketing of all products, services, corporate positioning and branding, in global markets (Americas, EMEA, Asia). This individual will serve as the subject matter expert in all marketing-related activities through various channels with the objective of driving sales engagements. With full responsibility for Marketing Communications, public and analyst relations, and Product Marketing, the Director of Marketing also launches and manages new products, services, to meet profitability goals through effective marketing programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Client marketing strategy and continue to evolve branding programs in support of corporate business plan, goals and objectives
- Lead strategy and development of marketing programs, including e-marketing, direct outreach, events, sales tools, PR/AR campaigns, competitive programs
- Create and lead innovative thought leadership programs to establish Client as a clear thought leader in new generation OSS, SDN – including white paper development, sponsored research and other similar programs
- Ensure all products, services, and other offerings conform with brand identity
- Create product and solution content and messaging for web and sales tools, including demo definition, collateral framework
- Develop regional marketing programs including outreach, PR/AR and other promotional activities to support regional sales and revenue objectives
- Manage and maintain 3rd party vendor relationships and strategies, including contract negotiation, selection – design agencies, web and e-marketing, PR agency, writers, exhibit houses
- Lead development of corporate web and online presence strategy including social media
- Develop PR/AR strategy and maintain PR pipeline, taking full ownership for all content and distribution, relationship with PR agency
- Prepare and deliver reports on the status of all marketing programs and initiatives to senior management, including ROI metrics
- Lead event strategy including researching and identifying key tradeshows, webinars and customer workshops, setting event objectives, planning Client presence
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on competitor activities; make recommendations based on findings/opportunities discovered
- Function as key corporate spokesperson to press and analysts
- Set and manage Client marketing budget working closely with Finance
Qualifications
- University degree in Marketing, Business, or related discipline
- 8-10 years of work related experience in a marketing and marketing management capacity; work related experience in an early stage company
- Excellent understanding and working knowledge with brand building, brand management and product marketing
- Extensive knowledge of the telecom domain – OSS, SDN, big data analytics, Web 2.0 and networking
- Familiarity and experience of functioning as corporate spokesperson with PR and AR communities
- Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines
- Energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented
- Proven team player who is both flexible and adaptable
- Proven skill set in web site creation and management, as well as familiarity with effective social media programs
- Superb writing, content development and editing skills
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of time
